Nature Discovery Park is Hong Kong’s first urban biodiversity museum and sustainability-themed education park. Showcasing Hong Kong’s ecological importance and global value, it plays host to a variety of rare plants endemic to our shore, and also feature tropical and native plants, an aquarium and naturally attracted butterflies. Urban parks and other forms of natural infrastructure can conserve healthy ecosystems and improve human health and well-being, while addressing challenges related to climate change, such as heat stress, storm surges and flooding (IUCN 2014). It aimed to fund and support parks innovators to develop, implement and spread new approaches to sustaining and making the most of public parks in the UK. Over 20 innovation projects have now been delivered supporting park managers, community groups and other charities to rethink how urban parks and green spaces might be managed and funded in future.
